Meet the Team
Ahmed and Mahmoud Al Ajla are 29 and 23 year old brothers who lost their father, brother, nieces, and cousins in the bombings. Ahmed and his wife Samar have three children and a baby on the way. They all lost their family home and are caring for their mother, who suffers from schizophrenia, and 25 other family members, including their sisters and their children. Mahmoud was studying for an IT degree but after being displaced and losing all possessions, he had to learn to climb trees to collect firewood, and dodge snipers to collect water for his family.
At the Maa refugee camp of displaced families, the brothers met Jamal during the war, a kind-hearted young man who also is responsible for taking care of his family. Together, Ahmed, Mahmoud, and Jamal collect and distribute the food and supplies to the neighbours and ensure all 490 families in the camp are equally supported. Their dear friends Alaa and Khaled coordinate the transport and purchases and photograph the work. Meanwhile their reliable friend Saed, a skilled accountant, keeps track of the spending, and makes sweet treats for the families.
